Search & Rescue

The objective of this course is to train the personnel assigned to duty in Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (RCC/RSC) to perform standardized search and rescue planning in both oceanic and coastal environments, to give the necessary practice to patrol vessel’s captains in conducting the role of on-scene coordinator and the necessary training to the traffic controllers, port services as pilot and tugboats Captains.

This training also strengths the total SAR capacity in the Gulf region and increase the co-operation between States pursuant to Chapter 3 of the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue, 1979.

During the course will be discussed all the following topics: International Conventions and IAMSAR Manual, Systems Management, communications and supporting technologies, The 5 stages, the 5 components and the 2 external factors, Emergency phases, Coverage factor, Probability of Containment, of
Detection, of Success Cospas-Sarsat, Manual planning: Leeway (LW), Sea Current, Wind, Search objects, How to find the search Area and Effort allocations, Search schemes, how to choose the most suitable ones and how to describe them Responsibilities and relationships, Emergency medical cares (medic and medevac), Mass_Rescue_Operations.
